Biosynthetic translations of contemporary folklore. Sourcing substance and poetry from decay. Civilisation in full bloom.
Through material melodies, instrumental furniture and spatial orchestration “the_bloom_of_decay” examines bespoke design through a critical and speculative lens. This degree project positions decay as both medium and method – simultaneously an echo and odour of the zeitgeist – whilst proposing biosynthetic design as the language of the Information Age. Operating through artistic research, the work adopts a suggestive and experimental methodology, interrogating the entanglement of technology, materiality and aesthetics. It explores how processes of growth, erosion and transformation can be translated into spatial expressions, proposing new representational and sustainable modalities of contemporary spatial design practice.
The bloom of decay.
