Light shines through the empty spaces I have cut out of the paper, and in the presence of darkness, shadows fall softly on the surrounding surfaces. It is within this world of shadows that the video installation ❦(Hedera) moves, among blurry memories, behind swaying foliage, on a journey through an uncertain gloom. Into a darkness that I want to embrace, just as I feel it has embraced me through my artistry.
‘Cut. An image appears under my eyelids. It goes too fast. Cut. The shadow of a tree sways against a wall, but the tree seems to be gone. Cut. There’s an ivy hanging in a window. Cut. On a track in the night a train passes by. The distance both grows and shrinks at the same time. Cut. I see how the darkness embraces her – or actually I don’t see it, I feel it, how it embraces us both, warm and soft. Cut.’
