“Above Us” is a project exploring the role of the ceiling in spatial contexts.

With the aim of challenging and developing ceilings, the project investigates how a standardised suspended ceiling with acoustic panels can be reshaped: from a passive layer to an active, architectural element.

The work takes its point of departure in existing school environments, where the ceiling’s design is used to influence acoustics, lighting and the spatial experience, with the learning environment as its springboard.
