‘the objective
exists only in my mind
as soon as my hand touches
the shimmering surface of cloth
the silkworm dies
becomes the neutral
disrupts binaries
minds of mirrors
reflects back to me
reflexive shimmer
you can take
my place
you can glimmer’
I explore weaving as an embodied form of writing where revision, failure and labour remains visible within the finished text. My starting point was a tension between poetry and politics, and it is where I shall position my own artistic practice. I have a desire to talk about intimate and personal experiences, while I am highly aware that the transgender body is politicised. Through weaving, I try to create a place where my body can be free to speak without a translation to normative narratives and universal experiences.
