When I was twenty-five, I stopped drinking alcohol. This year marks ten years since then. I have a fantasy that all the alcohol I ‘don’t’ consume is being stored somewhere, constantly increasing in volume. Based on my previous drinking habits, I have now accumulated 54,298 unconsumed units. Let’s pretend I drank only red wine. To hold all that wine, you would need a bag-in-box with a capacity of 6.4 cubic meters.

The alcoholic in me was insatiable. I think of what I’ve heard about dogs. When I was a child, I was told they can eat themselves to death if you accidentally leave a bag of dry food out. Towards the end of my drinking career, I often felt like such a ravenous dog, always with my nose in the air, sniffing for the next glass.

This installation is for all you fellow dogs, so you know you’re not alone. And for those close to you, trying in vain to hold your leash.
