Viola Sparre
I am a figurative painter whose work explores themes of family dynamics, motherhood, childhood, home, identity and the deeply human need to feel needed. As a mother of three and one of nine siblings, I have always been surrounded by children, which profoundly shapes my artistic perspective. In my paintings, time is fluid and timelines merge, bringing together present moments with memories of the past, interweaving my own childhood with those of my children and my mother.
My work investigates the psychological inheritance we carry from early years and how it continues to shape us as adults and through generations. Childhood experiences, often hidden beneath the surface, influence our identities and relationships in subtle yet powerful ways. Through body language, gaze, and environment, I aim to evoke a sense of introspection and emotional depth.
