Our homes and workplaces have been flooded with screens and digital devices for multiple decades now. Many of these products are deliberately designed to fail, creating a ‘fast fashion’ life cycle around complex products that are highly resource-intensive to produce.

The goal for this project was to challenge this contemporary unsustainable approach by creating a portable projector that can replace different types of static screens, while also being environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.

This resulted in creating a device that is designed to intuitively inform its users about its complexity and inner workings. By empowering the user in this way, repairing and modifying the device becomes more accessible, while also creating a better understanding of the product’s actual value.
