— A Series of Task Furniture for The Home
We are becoming increasingly more disconnected from our objects. We take for granted how they work, where they are produced and how they are manufactured. The more we lack understanding of our objects, the more we lose our relationship with them.
By designing a series of task furniture for the home environment, where the mechanical parts of the objects are highlighted, I want to give the user a possibility to understand the furniture and to see the beauty in their function.
A big part of our lives is spent behind a desk; 10 years on average for an office worker. One could argue that we shouldn’t sit behind the desk for such a big part of our lives but if we have to do it, I think it should be a beautiful, personal and functional place. With “Mechanical Work” my ambition is to create a furniture series worthy of the work and time spent at the desk.
