Minneshandlingar (II)
Astrid Lakso (She/her )
Sweden, b. 2000
Astrid Lakso works with her own self-constructed concept ‘minneshandling’ (eng: ‘act of memory’), which refers to what we do to actively preserve our memories. Examples of this could include photography, keeping a diary, or saving and collecting objects with a lot of sentimental value. This work also examines the opposite, forgetting and letting go of memories.
“Minneshandlingar (II)” is a series of images created using light-sensitive pigments derived from food waste, where sunlight has bleached the motifs into view. The process continues even after the images have been produced, meaning the work will keep changing and gradually fade over the course of the exhibition.
