We live in a high-tech digitalised world. The pursuit of ‘seamlessness’ in design makes us lose touch with physical, artisanal objects.

“Calendar 4-EVER” is an infinite calendar. It’s an analogue instrument that displays the year, month, week number, day of the week and date for any day, no matter how far away.

By creating an analogue algorithm, integrating it into a form and deliberately adding ‘design friction’ through haptic attributes, the work explores how that can improve user interaction.

What would you do if you wanted to know something about a specific day, such as what day of the week you were born, when the next Friday the 13th takes places, what week Apollo 11 was on the moon, or what date the holidays start the year after next? How would you do it if you didn’t have access to digital tools?

There were no analogue infinite calendars that worked until now. 🙂
