“Pareidolia” is a graphic novel about ‘the other’, identity, monster and metamorphoses. What happens when the persecuted believe that the only way out of their situation is to force themselves to become someone else? What consequences does this entail, not only for themselves but for others?

I’ve long been interested in how society’s normative frameworks and categories push people to conform, even if the only result is their own suffering. Sometimes those who advocate for these frameworks are the ones who suffer most from them, and it is from the wake of this tragic irony that “Pareidolia” took its shape. But in this wake, there is also love; a love for folklore, biology, birds and queerness. “Pareidolia” encompasses a mixture of emotions that I hope seep through the pages of the book and reach those who read it.
