Placing something in a box can be seen as a funeral, or the creation of a small memorial place to visit from time to time.<\/p>\n
The things in a memory box lie quietly at rest. They are stuck in a kind of no-man\u2019s-land, liminality embodied. <\/p>\n
I have interviewed people and asked them to show me their memory boxes. Opening the lid is an intimate act and reveals parts of a person not everyone gets to see, layers beneath the skin. I have seen where these boxes are kept, the small hiding places for the life that has been.<\/p>\n
The participants chose objects gifted by someone they are no longer in contact with, things kept as relationship relics. I have continued working with the objects in order to approach their sentimental value.<\/p>\n
The work explores how objects carry relationships and how they change when moved from the private into the public.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
