Handmade paper carries both a long craft tradition and the potential for new spatial applications. This work explores how paper can move beyond the flat sheet and be formed into structure, volume, and form. Through experiments with wet pulp, different shaping techniques were tested to understand how the material behaves when dried in molded and patterned forms. The work was developed at Lessebo Handpappersbruk, using traditional handmade paper methods while pushing them into new contexts.<\/p>\n
During the process, cotton fibers were chosen for their stability, sourced from recycled textile waste and reused paper strips from the mill. The material therefore exists in a continuous cycle of transformation. The paper elements are combined with oak from my grandmother\u2019s childhood farm, creating a structural framework that connects personal history with material exploration.<\/p>\n
Together, paper and wood form three objects – a room divider, a cabinet, and lighting – demonstrating how handmade paper can function as a spatial material and suggesting what it might become if it is left unwritten.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
