Handling baby bottles is a significant part of most parents\u2019 everyday lives. Their lids are unscrewed and screwed back on; they are filled, heated, shaken and held many times over. Yet baby products are rarely designed for hands that hurt, or hands that no longer function as they once did. For parents with joint diseases or other conditions that result in reduced hand strength, these everyday actions can cause intense, lasting physical pain and frustration.<\/p>\n
My degree project explores how baby bottles can be designed to be more inclusive, based on the varying hand function of adult users. Using Universal Design as an approach, and drawing on relevant user studies, workshops, and industry input, concrete opportunities for change are explored.<\/p>\n
The result is a baby bottle system that includes for more parents, without compromising the commercial relevance or aesthetics.<\/p>\n
