My work consists of a fountain and a floor. The fountain is surrounded by two green crocodiles, inspired by my favorite card in the tarot deck, The Fool. The Fool is a Dionysian figure, and beside him there is a crocodile symbolizing creative power. Between the crocodiles of the fountain is a starry sky. The floor surrounding the fountain is a bright sky. A blue sky where one forgives and hopes.<\/p>\n
The work is dedicated to my daughter; I wanted to bring down a piece of the sky to her. Our time is marked by war, depression, and utilitarianism \u2014 but for her I wish for the opposite: love, joy, will, and a lust for life. That is why I have tried to create a tribute to the creative force that humanity is also capable of. Something generous and life-affirming, despite everything. To me, the fountain is a symbol of flow, energy, creativity, and love. I have also drawn inspiration from Roman mosaic floors and cathedral floors, which are often richly and extravagantly decorated. There is something appealing to me about the unnecessary, excessive act of making a floor \u2014 something meant simply to be walked on \u2014 beautiful.<\/p>\n
