\u2018I build a museum for her without walls\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Drawn Museum\u201d explores how colonial history and authoritarian power become embodied in everyday objects. I create a collection of objects that carry layered and entangled influences. I refer to these as hybridity objects: \u201cFolded August 15, Momotaro\u2019s Hacienda\u201d and \u201cThe National Language Family\u201d. They carry traces of histories and systems that continue to shape Taiwanese identity.<\/p>\n
Through a long process of making, I return to specific historical moments. In doing so, I begin to position myself in relation to my grandmother\u2019s generation, entering a dialogue across time.<\/p>\n
This degree project does not seek to provide a comprehensive history of Taiwan. Instead, it is a space where history remains lived, held and continually reactivated through objects.
