At the end of 2025, Storm Johannes left thirty thousand households in Sweden without power. In recent years, the peak price of electricity has become volatile due to weather-related reasons. In my degree project, I am investigating cooking without electricity by designing a camping stove that can be used both inside in case of a power outage and outside for camping.<\/p>\n
My investigation started by simulating a power outage in my home lasting for 7 days. The task was to cook all meals, dinner, lunch and breakfast, without using electricity. For visibility, I used a head torch on my forehead. The MSB brochure \u201cOm krisen eller kriget kommer\u201d inspired the food I cooked, consisting of ingredients with a long shelf-life. <\/p>\n
Two ways to prepare food turned into three when I discovered I could steam vegetables on top of boiling pasta. My curiosity for colour, flavours, textures and the outdoors has guided me in my investigation of what a camping stove is and what potentially it could be.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
