and it feels important
\nit feels like a small act of
\ndefiance
\ntowards a society that still
\ndoes not expect me
\nto be able<\/p>\n
to forge a hammer.<\/p>\n
so, when i was done
\ni made another one.<\/p>\n
– \u201cdefiance\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cToo Strong, Too Soft\u201d is a mixed-media installation that reclaims craft as a feminist tool for resistance and bodily autonomy. Combining blacksmithing, ceramics, glass and jewellery, this degree project challenges patriarchal structures, gendered labour, and the ongoing stigmatisation of female-identifying bodies. Through the sculptural works \u201cBreathe\u201d, \u201cHow Heavy is Your Period (Product)?\u201d, and \u201cTools of Resilience\u201d the installation traces a journey from intimate bodily experience to public protest.<\/p>\n
Combining material experimentation with poetic writing and critical analysis, \u201cToo Strong, Too Soft\u201d reclaims craft as a space for political expression and bodily autonomy, transforming emotions such as anger, shame and frustration into forms of creative resistance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
